Such is the appropriate statement after two of the largest B2B Linkage events of the year in the country organised by Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB), with partnership with the Alliance for Trade in Information-Technology and Services (ATIS) with support from Richard Okuti of Asili FORTUNE an export development, linkages and digitalization firm. The events that took place at Hotel Africana on the 20th and 21st of July 2022 respectively, saw selected IT companies listening and presenting solutions to IT needs of the Ugandan Health Sector and Horticulture / Agricultural sectors.
The event, whose aim was to support digitization of various sectors and grow buyer seller relationships in Uganda, was well represented by members from various associations including Uganda Medical Association (UMA), Uganda Fruits and Vegetable Exporters and Producers Association (UFVEPA), Horticulture Exporters Association (Hortexa), ATIS members (GD Experts, Vantage Communication, Asili FORTUNE, Neuwelt, Data Care, Japotech, Clinic Master and Infinity Computers) and Other IT/ ITES companies including: (Smart Business Intelligence, Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU) and Famunera). The ICT Association of Uganda participated in the mobilisation of some of the companies.
The IT and ITES sector companies engaged in B2B discussions with the Health, Horticulture and agribusiness firms to understand how ICT could play a more central role in growing their businesses as well as supporting their interests in accessing export markets.
“According to the feedback by company executives, both events were the first of their kind and present some of the best opportunities for economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic aftermath".
These events are the manifestation of a growing commitment of the private sector to work in close collaboration with the government to promote Uganda's export capacity in strategic sectors. ATIS is the umbrella body for all IT & ITES companies in Uganda engaged in the export of services.
